9 Habits of Highly Effective People

Before I start talking about these habits, I just want to bring something to your attention. There is a new mindset which is in fact change the way I think permanently. If you happen to find yourself in any situation in which you can choose to be REACTIVE AND PROACTIVE. If you choose to be PROACTIVE you ultimately increase your circle of influence. You see there are things you can control and there are things which you cannot directly control like weather, where you were born, your personal decision and the decision of your boss but what you can control is how you react to this

1.   Be Proactive

This is the only thing you can control in your life, if you react without thinking, say a very harsh thing to your friend, you start taking drugs after a very long hectic day or you become depressed when the weather is gloomy you are becoming REACTIVE. You let the environment control you. When you are REACTIVE you focus on thing which you cannot control and become frustrated like you born in poor family or in an abusive family but keep thinking and focusing on it will not change it. This is the plus point of being PROACTIVE because you can control your work ethic, you can control how you can treat people around you. If you focus on thing you can control can bring power in your life and widen your circle of influence. In short REACTIVE people complain a lot about almost everything because it is very easy to complain.

2.   Read a book every week

Books are wide source of wisdom. The more books you read the more wisdom you get. Great books are the best source of self-improvement.

3.   Overcome your fears

We all have fears in our life like fear of uncertainty, fear of the unknown, fear of risk, fear of public speaking etc. All these fears are the big hurdles in self-improvement. Once you overcome all these fears there is nothing going to stop you from growing. Even though I believe that fears are the compass for growth and self-improvement.

4.   Level up your skills

Always work hard to level up your skills in the field in which your passion lies. And by doing that you can always find some room for some new self-improvement as in this case my passion is writing blogs and my skills are continuously leveling up by doing it on daily basis

5.   Get out of your comfort zone

Real growth in self-improvement is come to you when you left your comfort zone and do some hard work and sweat. If you fail to leave your comfort zone than forget about the dream of self-improvement. Be different do something new with your life every time explore all your options.

6.   Identify your blind spot

Scientifically, blind spots mainly refer to as our eyes are unable to see. In self-improvement terms, blind spots are things about oneself we don’t know about. Discovering our blind spots can help us to discover our areas of improvement. There are many ways to discover the blind spots but the one I use to discover my blind spots is to identify all the things/events/people that trigger me in a day – trigger meaning making me feel annoyed/weird/affected.

7.   Acknowledge your flaws

There isn’t a single person alive in this world who don’t have flaws. Having flaws isn’t a bad thing, but if you don’t acknowledge them, do nothing about them and do not address them. The main exercise is how you address them and work on them to continue onto the path of self-improvement.

8.   Quit a bad habit

Bad habits are the big hurdle between us and self-improvement. Everyone have habits some of them are good and some of them are bad. The main thing in improving yourself is trying to quit all the bad habits which are pulling you back from self-improvement like smoking, drinking and oversleep.

9.   Avoid negative people

There are negative people everywhere. The main point is to avoid them because they cannot let you grow as a person. Where ever you go in the world there bound to be negative people, don’t spend time with them if you think they are dragging you down, leave their company immediately for the sake of self-improvement.
